PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Northeast Philadelphia Airport was closed for about an hour Thursday morning after a small plane slipped off the runway.
It happened shortly before 11 a.m.
Airport spokesperson Heather Redfern said two people were aboard a small Cessna 172 airplane when it had trouble landing, then overturned.
The Philadelphia Fire Department transported both people onboard to the hospital for observation.
Redfern said their injuries were minor.
The airport temporarily closed while the plane was removed from the runway but has since reopened.
