PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The 31-year-old man who admitted to killing a mother and shooting two Philadelphia police officers nearly two years ago was sentenced Monday morning to up to seven decades behind bars.
Spencer Majett pleaded guilty to third-degree murder, four counts of assault on law enforcement and weapons charges in February for the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Felicity Vanatta outside of a deli in Kensington where he was fighting with a group of people on Oct. 8, 2024.
Majett was firing at police and struck Vannatta — an innocent bystander and young mother — in the chest with a bullet. She died at the hospital.
The two officers shot back at Majett, who was struck twice in the back, but lived.
Authorities said the incident stemmed from an argument over some money and a cellphone.
Majett was sentenced to 25 to 70 years in prison.
