OLNEY (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia Police are looking for a suspect who tied up a family and held them at gunpoint to steal money in a late Saturday night home invasion.
Authorities said it happened just before midnight when an armed suspect dressed in all black pointed a gun at a man sitting on his porch on Marwood Road near Westford Road in Olney. They said the gunman forced the man on the porch into his house, where his wife and daughter were present.
The gunman then restrained all three family members with zip ties and demanded money, according to police.
Officials said the gunman then took the man to an upstairs bedroom in the house, struck him in the head with his gun, and took $1,000 from the home.
After the gunman left, authorities said the family was able to free themselves and quickly call police.
The father suffered head injuries from being hit with the gun, and his daughter came away with abrasions from the zip-ties. His wife was uninjured.
Northeast Detectives are investigating, and police said the home’s security cameras caught the incident on tape.
