PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A taxi driver was shot by a teenage boy police said tried to rob him in East Germantown Wednesday.
It was after 12 p.m. when police said the man was picking up someone in his Honda CR-V at the intersection of Price and Boyer streets.
That's when a teenager, between 16 and 18 years old, opened the passenger door and attempted to rob him at gunpoint.
The driver was then shot in the chest as he tried to get away. He was taken to a hospital and placed in stable condition. Authorities said nothing was taken.
The teen was described as a thin boy with a clean-shaven face and was seen wearing a red and black hoodie with black pants. Anyone who spots him has been asked to call police.
