PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 14-year-old boy has been charged with deliberately setting a fire late last month that spread across 52 acres of Burlington County.

The Evesham Police Department announced on Wednesday that the teen, from Marlton, was arrested on Nov. 7 and taken to the Middlesex Juvenile Detention Center.

He is charged with aggravated arson and causing or risking widespread injury or damage. His identity is being withheld due to his age.

Officials said the Oct. 30 forest fire broke out in the area near Sycamore Drive and the Berlin Township border. It burned for several days over 52 acres, but no structures were damaged.

Investigators determined the cause of the fire was arson. Authorities are investigating a possible connection between the Oct. 30 fire and a fire in the same area on Nov. 7, which consumed 375 acres.

An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Evesham Police Department by calling 856-983-1116 or the confidential tip line at 856-983-4699. To submit an anonymous tip, text ETPDTIP to 847411.
