PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 15-year-old has been charged in the fatal shooting of a DoorDash driver earlier this month in Southwest Philadelphia.
Zakah Johnson was taken into custody on Thursday on unrelated charges. While in custody, he was re-arrested on murder charges.
Johnson is accused of shooting 43-year-old MD Mahfuzul Haque in Kingsessing.
On July 7, police responded to South Ithan Street, near Hoffman Avenue, for a report of a shooting. They found Haque with a gunshot wound to the back of the head, down on the ground next to his car, which was still running.
Police believed he was targeted. They found two rifle-round shell casings on the ground just inches from the victim, indicating he was shot execution-style.
Investigators also checked the address that the delivery was made for, and the residents said they never placed an order.
Johnson has been denied bail and is being held at the Philadelphia Juvenile Justice Services Center. He is being charged as an adult.
