PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — It is extremely important to exercise regularly, but what is the reasoning behind getting 10,000 steps a day?

Turns out that numberwas part of a Japanese marketing campaign and was programmed into many of our smart devices linked to smartwatches. As a result, most people think 10,000 is an ideal number.


Fifteen studies confirm that 10,000 is not a magic number, but the key point is that any aerobic exercise, even 500 steps helps. The key is to get out there and get moving.
