PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police at the Jersey Shore say a woman got drunk and passed out while babysitting a toddler in Brigantine.
Around 12:30 p.m. Monday, a neighbor called 911 to report a toddler wandering around outside alone. The neighbor recognized the kid and took the child back home.
Once inside, the neighbor told police she found 35-year-old Jena Davidson, of Ventnor City, passed out. Paramedics took her to the hospital for treatment.
Police said Davidson drank “a significant amount” of alcohol that the toddler’s parents had in their home, “ to the point that she became unconscious and unresponsive.”
The child’s parents told investigators that they hired Davidson through a well-known child care website.
Davidson has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
