PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Radnor and Amtrak police are investigating after officials said someone was hit and killed by an Amtrak train Sunday morning outside the Villanova SEPTA station.

It happened shortly after 11 a.m. near the West Campus Train Station, when an Amtrak train carrying 216 people from New York to Harrisburg collided with the person and killed them.

None of the passengers or crew members aboard the train were injured.

According to an email sent to the Villanova University community, the individual involved was not a student. The university also referred students to counseling services due to the unsettling nature of the incident. The person’s identity has not been released, pending family notification. Radnor police and Amtrak are investigating the incident and have stated that no foul play is suspected.

SEPTA service was suspended for about four and a half hours but has resumed in Villanova.
