PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 15-year-old boy and a 40-year-old man were killed in separate shootings in Philadelphia that happened around the same time on Saturday night.
Just before 7 p.m., police said a 15-year-old was shot at a Sunoco gas station in Port Richmond.
Officials said the teen was with a group when they got in a fight with a 40-year-old man at the gas station at Richmond Street and Castor Avenue.
Philadelphia Police Inspector D.F. Pace said the 40-year-old man pulled out a gun and shot the 15-year-old in the back.
“That young man then ran south about a half a block on Richmond and then collapsed. His friends attempted to render some aid, and it just so happened that two Samaritans, both medical professionals, were driving by, saw what was going on, got out of their vehicle, and also attempted life-saving measures," said Pace
The boy was pronounced dead at the hospital about 15 minutes after the incident. Pace said the man who shot him was arrested.
At the same time in West Philadelphia, a 40-year-old man was also shot and killed.
Officials said the shooting happened just off Girard Avenue on Redfield Street, between 59th and 60th Streets.
Police believe the incident was a domestic dispute between the victim and his girlfriend's ex-partner.
Authorities said they are still looking for the girlfriend's ex-partner.
