PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Detectives are searching for a suspect who broke into a South Philly home, where he was quickly fought off by the resident. Surveillance video shows the man lurking around the neighborhood and peering into homes right before.
It happened around 6 a.m. on Sept. 11 at 20th and Morris streets.
The man, dressed in all black and a surgical mask, is seen walking around back alleyways and peering into homes in the Point Breeze and Newbold neighborhoods.
The suspect then saw a man taking out the trash, authorities said, and that’s when he pounced, forcing his way inside the victim's home.
Officials said the victim “valiantly fought off” the suspect, who then sprinted away.
Nothing was taken from the home, and the victim is OK.
