PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Slow down and move over — that’s the message the New Jersey Department of Transportation shared after a near-fatal crash on I-80 last month.
The department tweeted dashcam video Monday of a tractor-trailer that crashed into several New Jersey State Police vehicles at a high rate of speed.
State troopers had arrived to assist with a motor vehicle accident. Hours later, video shows police cars flashing their lights, and one is seen parked across the left and middle lanes when a tow truck plowed into it.
The video shows an officer step to the side moments before the crash.
“This is a heart-stopping reminder of why motorists need to slow down and move over for first responders,” NJDOT tweeted.
It happened last month in Allamuchy Township in North Jersey. No one was injured.
