UPDATE: SUNDAY, 6 p.m.

Police say an argument led to the shooting Saturday on a SEPTA subway platform in Center City that killed 21-year-old Joseph Lighty.

When officers arrived, they found Lighty with a gunshot wound to the leg and 36-year-old Phillip Riddick holding a gun. They took Lighty to the hospital, where he died.

According to their initial investigation, police say the two men got into an "animated conversation" that turned into an argument, then a fight, at street level. Police say the fight continued down the steps to the Walnut-Locust Station SEPTA platform, where Riddick's gun went off.

Investigators say Riddick was seen going up the stairs, where SEPTA officers took him into custody. Officials say he could face murder charges, pending further investigation.
