PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A water main break has left a muddy mess in East Mount Airy. At least 80 people on Slocum Street, near Lowber Avenue, don’t have running water.
The water is no longer flowing onto the street, but the roads are covered in a thick sheet of mud. There is a hole in the middle of the street with a pool of muddy, brown water in it.
Philadelphia Water Department officials said an 8-inch main broke.
The department did not give an estimate of how long it will take to get the water flowing again for those affected, or how long it will take to clean this all up and make necessary repairs.
