NEW JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — Officials say an Ocean County woman accidentally ran over her 10-month-old Saturday night, killing him.
Prosecutors say the baby was sitting in a bouncer seat between two cars on the driveway of a home along Grawtown Road while his mother, Wendy Castillo-Torres, 30, of Lakehurst, cleaned them.
At some point, officials say Castillo-Torres got into one of the vehicles to move it, but shifted into drive instead of reverse, trapping the infant between both vehicles. He was rushed to the hospital, where he died.
She is charged with causing death while driving without a valid driver's license.
"Our investigation indicates that this is a tragic accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time," said Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer.
