PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A West Chester native who now lives in Germany is anxiously waiting to see if his overseas ballot will be accepted here in Pennsylvania. The process, he said, wasn't exactly smooth sailing.
Sean Barrett, a software engineer who works in Berlin, received his packet of voting materials in mid-September and noticed right away that something was missing.
"The actual ballot, the thing that you fill out who you want to for," he said.
Barrett got in touch with Pennsylvania voting officials who immediately emailed him a ballot, and from there it was a matter of simply filling it out and mailing it back.
He learned that the ballot arrived at City Hall on Oct. 13. So now, Barrett waits and hopes he got it right.
"If for some reason there's a problem with not counting my vote I think it's gonna be either my signature was mismatched or the paper size isn't exact or the postmark is illegible," said Barrett, who said that despite the ballot glitch and uncertainty, he would cast an absentee ballot again.
"It's really the least I can do to be politically involved," he added.
