PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A resident shot and killed a man who tried to break into his house in West Philadelphia Monday night, police said.
It happened around 11 p.m. on Cobbs Creek Parkway, near Baltimore Avenue.
Chief Inspector Scott Small said a couple saw on their Ring doorbell camera that someone was trying to get into their front door.
“When the husband … went and confronted this individual, the male forced and broke in through the front doors of the property,” he said.
That’s when the resident shot him.
Police found the 61-year-old man in the enclosed entryway with a gunshot wound to the torso. He died at the hospital.
The couple is cooperating with police. They said they didn’t recognize the man. Police said he might have been homeless.
