PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police said two gunmen tore the front doors of a West Philadelphia home off the hinges, chased the resident out of his home, and shot him in the driveway on Tuesday night.
Around 10 p.m. at 58th and Sansom streets, police said the armed men broke through the front and storm doors of a home.
“The frames are very damaged. Clearly, a lot of force was used to tear both of these doors off the hinges,” said Chief Inspector Scott Small.
The gunmen then chased a 30-year-old man around the first floor and outside through the back door.
“[The attackers] then chased the victim down the driveway, where [they] caught up with him and shot him multiple times,” Small said.
At least nine shots were fired. The shooters got away.
Police responded and took the victim to the hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
The victim’s family members, including a very young child, were in the house when the incident happened. They were not injured and cooperated with police. It was not immediately clear to investigators what the motive was for the shooting.
