PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — One person was stabbed to death, and a suspect is in custody after a barricade situation in West Philadelphia.
Police say they responded to a report of an armed man on North Edgewood Street, just north of Market Street between 60th and 61st Streets, just after 9 a.m. on Thursday.
They say they found a man with a stab wound, who they pronounced dead shortly after. Family members identified the victim as Mark Burton, who they say was in his 50s.
Two other women were taken out of the home, and a standoff ensued between police and a man inside.
Shortly thereafter, police say they took the man into custody. The neighborhood was shut down for several hours afterwards while police investigated.
They have not yet released any information about the identity of the person who they arrested.
