PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The force of nature is undeniable, and events are often unpredictable. The recent earthquake that centered in Lebanon, New Jersey was a reminder that we should have disaster plans in place.
If you haven't done so, develop a family disaster plan and include a way to contact family members in the event of an unexpected incident. Some practical tips: Include a backup to charge your smartphone if the power goes out, and keep an up-to-date first aid kit.
If you have elderly relatives or friends, a major concern is reaching out to them, as they are extremely vulnerable. The most important thing to do is think about how you would react in the rare event of a major disaster.
