PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Authorities in Cape May County, New Jersey, on Wednesday arrested a Wildwood Crest man in connection with the shooting death of a man there.

Around 3:45 p.m., the Wildwood Crest Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at a home on East Cresse Avenue. They say, when they got to the home, the 911 caller told them the alleged shooter was still inside.

After entering, cops found 63-year-old Carmine Neri with a handgun in his ack pocket and arrested him there, authorities say.

Police say they then found Joseph Falciani lying on his back at the top of a staircase with an apparent gunshot wound in his chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene after attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.

Witnesses told investigators an argument between the two men escalated and they heard a single gunshot. Investigators say forensic evidence supports witness accounts.

In addition, near the shooting scene, an office door that had been locked was found to have been kicked, according to authorities.

The Cape May County Prosecutor has charged Neri with first-degree murder, among other offenses. He is being held at the Cape May County Correctional Facility.
