MADRID, SPAIN (KYW Newsradio) — The woman suspected of stabbing a 21-year-old woman and stuffing her body inside a futon in Northeast Philly back in April has been arrested in Madrid.
That's according to the US Marshals Service, who said they provided information that led to the arrest of 28-year-old Gerelys Sanchez-Reyes.
The victim, Yuleisy Torrelles-Martinez (toe-RAY-yes), was reported missing in early April after friends said she wasn't answering the door to her apartment on Frankford Avenue near University Street.
When police searched her home, they found her body brutally stabbed, wrapped in a shower curtain and trash bags, and stuffed inside a futon.
Sources told KYW the two women were exotic dancers and may have known each other through work.
An arrest warrant was issued for Sanchez-Reyes on April 5. She's currently awaiting extradition back to the U.S., where she faces murder charges.
