PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Officials in Bucks County are trying to figure out what started two separate fires that killed two women — one Monday night in Bristol, and the other Tuesday morning in Bensalem.
According to authorities, a fire in the historic section of Bristol, in a home along Dorrance Street near Wood Street around 6 p.m. killed 75-year-old Mary Miller. Another person was injured, but expected to survive.
Hours later, around 3 a.m. in Bensalem, investigators said fire crews rushed to a home along Bellview Drive near Benjamin Rush State Park, where they saw smoke pouring from the residence.
Inside they found Christine Toal, 56, in the kitchen unconscious. First responders rushed her outside and tried to resuscitate her, but it was too late. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
A man who lived in the home was also injured and taken to the hospital. He is expected to survive.
The cause of both fires is under investigation.
