LOWER MERION TWP., Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — Two workers were trapped for over an hour when a trench collapsed in Lower Merion Township, according to emergency responders.
Around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, two men were trapped in a ditch about 10 feet deep at a house construction site right off of Morris Road in Lower Merion Township.

Witnesses on scene say the two men were rescued after about an hour. They were put on stretchers and taken to the hospital, where thety are being looked over, Lower Merion Chief Fire Officer Chas McGarvey said.
"As far as I know, there's no injuries," McGarvey said. "You know, they were taken to the hospital because of what occurred and to be checked out, so I don't know of any injuries as of yet."
McGarvey said that, when the workers were pulled from the site, the rescue crew did not see the proper scaffolding that should be in place for a ditch that deep.
The men are very lucky, McGarvey said. Things could have been much worse, because there is a lot of dirt at the site, which has turned to really heavy mud because of recent rainfall.
He said OSHA will be investigating the accident to determine just what happened.
