6-year-old Germantown boy hospitalized after shooting himself

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A six-year-old boy has been hospitalized after shooting himself Friday, according to Philadelphia police.

It happened just after 11:30 a.m. inside an apartment near the corner of Mannheim and Schuyler streets in the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia.

Investigators say the boy shot himself in the left hand.

Rescue crews took him to St. Christopher's Hospital, and he was placed in stable condition.

There was no initial word on how the boy got the gun, or who it belongs to.
