PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds office is running its annual collection drive to benefit homeless veterans.
“Our veterans deserve everything we can give to them, and the least we can do is make sure that our veterans who are threat of homelessness or are homeless have the basic necessities,” said Jeanne Sorg, Montgomery County recorder of deeds.
She says her office is collecting supplies for the Veterans Multi-Service Center, which helps vets who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. They're looking for hats, gloves and scarves.
“They also need small toiletries, like soap and shampoo, and disposable razors.”
Sorg says the center is also collecting laundry detergent.
She says items can be dropped off at One Montgomery Plaza in Norristown across from the courthouse, at The Red Hill VFW, or at the offices of state Rep. Matt Bradford in East Norriton or Worcester, Rep. Napolean Nelson in Glenside, and Rep. Melissa Cerrato in Horsham.
Sorg says any veterans who are homeless or at risk for homelessness, or anyone who knows a veteran who may be at risk, should contact her office, at 610-278-3289, or call (610-384-8387) or email the Veterans Muti-Service Center for help.
