A recent recall may result in a purge of your refrigerator’s deli meat drawer if you stocked up on a specific cut of pork.

Nearly 86,000 pounds of ready-to-eat sliced prosciutto ham produced in Germany is now subject to a recall.

States impacted by the recall span the country and include California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and Washington.

The reason for the recall is reportedly a lack of inspections.

So far, there have been no confirmed reports of illness due to the potentially tainted meat, but officials are advising an abundance of caution, saying anyone who purchased the affected products should either throw them away or return them to the place they were purchased.

You should not consume the prosciutto.

The affected packages are 5.29 oz. and labeled “Stockmeyer PROSCIUTTO Product of Germany.” The “Best Before” dates on the recalled ham are 4/28, 5/26, 7/7, 8/4, 8/11 and 10/7. All dates are in 2024.
