
After a car crashed through the front doors of a Walmart store in Thomasville, Ga., Wednesday – killing one and injuring others – authorities soon began investigating the incident as a homicide case.
That day, they arrested Khalil Pugh and charged him with the following: three counts of malice murder felony murder homicide by vehicle; aggravated assault (with intent to murder); criminal damage to property – 2nd degree reckless driving under the influence; leaving the scene of an accident and entering automobile.
According to the Thomasville Police Department, the incident occurred at around 11:44 a.m. and law enforcement from multiple agencies responded to the scene. By 12:22 p.m., the store was closed and people were advised to stay away from the area while investigators worked.
“One pedestrian was fatally injured and several other pedestrians were injured in the incident as well,” said authorities. “The two (2) occupants of the vehicle were also injured in the incident. All of the injuries were treated on scene by Thomas County EMS or transported to the hospital for further treatment.”
While investigating, police discovered that Pugh “was involved in a series of entering autos at a separate location just prior to travelling to Walmart.”
Authorities allege that Pugh intentionally crashed the vehicle into the store. An investigation is ongoing.
“This case will then be presented to the District Attorney’s Office for further prosecution,” said police. “There are several citizens that are seen on video surveillance that have not been identified by investigators.”
