A Louisiana man has been sentenced to chemical castration after his conviction of raping a juvenile under the age of 13.
On March 1, Kentwood native Ryan Clark, 34, pleaded guilty to felony second-degree rape, molestation of a juvenile under 13, and sexual battery, according to Tangipahoa Parish District Attorney Scott Perrilloux.
Clark was sentenced on March 14 to 35 years in prison, with the first 25 to be served without the possibility of parole. Clark will also be listed on the sex offender registry for life, will forfeit all parental rights to all children, and must submit to chemical castration upon is release from prison.
Details of the incidents resulting in Clark’s conviction were not released, but the investigation into Clark began in July 2020 and involved possibly two victims.
Chemical castration was written into Louisiana law as a punishment for certain crimes in 2008. The procedure will be performed on Clark at least a week before his release.
Clark was credited for time served.
