PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police say a man was grazed by a bullet inside a Philadelphia Wawa location on Friday morning.
Employees reported an argument to police after 4 a.m. and the shooter shot the victim while the two were walking out of the store at Frankford Avenue and Academy Road.
"We did find a bullet hole in a wooden trash can on the other side of the Wawa by the front doors," said Chief inspector Scott Small. "So we're really lucky that no customers or employees were struck by stray gunfire because we know one of the bullets went completely from the back door to where the trash can is and that's right by the front doors of this Wawa."
Police say the 34-year-old victim, who was armed, sustained a graze wound to the stomach. He was licensed to carry his gun, and police say he did not use it.
Over the summer, Wawa announced it would close two Center City locations because of safety concerns.
