Dr. Zeeshan Khan, Pulmonologist at Deborah Heart and Lung Center and Medical Director of their Institute for Sleep Medicine, says sleep disorders can crash our immune systems and trigger a host of other attacks on our health and well-being, whether it’s a new stretch of pandemic-induced insomnia, or a more serious condition like obstructive sleep apnea.
“Almost every cardiac morbidity you can think of has been linked to sleep apnea,” according to Dr. Khan. “Heart disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, strokes, inflammatory issues like diabetes, worsening obesity – the list can go on and on.”
