PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Amber is a bug-loving, plant-growing teenager who likes to care for animals.

The 16-year-old hopes to build a career blending their love of animals and insects with art.

"I would probably explain the shades — the primary, secondary, complementary," said the teen.

Amber is known for having a green thumb and is in charge of a vegetable garden that has exceeded all expectations.

"I definitely enjoy it, but it kind of catches me off guard because of how well they do."

The 10th-grader's best day would be spent sleeping in for a couple of hours, then reading a book under a warm blanket.

Amber prefers the pronouns they/them, painting their own life's canvas.

Social worker Abby Fischer said Amber is in search of an accepting family who has unconditional love to give.

"Who is going to accept Amber as Amber and not try to change how they describe themselves and what they want and what they need?" she said. "I think they really deserve a family that will accept Amber for Amber."

Amber is certainly a palette of many colors who radiates determination, passion and hope.
