They did everything right, but their cars were towed anyway.
The Philadelphia Parking Authority admitted that it towed four cars with valid parking permits from the FIFA Fan Festival enforcement zone in Fairmount and Brewerytown.
The PPA told NBC10 that those vehicles were immediately returned to their owners, and any fees and fines have been waived.
On top of that, enforcement agents issued 173 tickets to cars with valid permits.
The head of the PPA said the system is automatically flagging tickets that were issued in error and canceling them.
Almost 2,500 tickets have been issued to cars that were illegally parked in the enforcement zone since the festival opened on June 11.
