A rock thrown through a window might have led to a woman being shot in Callowhill, police said.
Officers found the woman on the sidewalk outside her home near 12th Street and Fairmount Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Monday. She had been shot in the chest.
They also found a rock thrown through her front window.
“It escalated to shots being fired,” said Chief Inspector Scott Small, “but we’re not certain exactly why someone threw a rock through the front window.”
The woman is in the hospital in stable condition.
Investigators found four spent shell casings near the door to her house. They are checking private surveillance cameras to try to identify a suspect.
