I am crazy about Disney and have been a passholder since 2002. I am having Disney withdrawals right now and so happy that they are sharing some of our favorite snacks from in the park so we can try it at home.
My daughters and I decided every week we are going to try a new recipe and this week we choose Churros.
This is what you need:
Three eggs
1 and a half cups of vegetable oil or canola oil
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon, divided
8 tablespoons of butter
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1/2 cup of sugar
1 cup of water
1 and 1/4 cups of all purpose flour
1. Combine water, butter, salt and 1/4 tsp cinnamon in 1 1/2 quart saucepan over medium heat. Bring it to a rolling boil.
2. Reduce heat to low.
3. Add flour and stir vigorously until mix forms a ball. Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 to 7 minutes.
4. Add eggs. One at a time and stir until combined and set aside.
5. Heat oil in medium skillet or 1 quart saucepan over medium high heat or until temperature reaches 350 degrees.
6. Put dough into piping bag(we didn't have this so we improvised with a ziploc bag)fitted with large star tip. Pipe 1 ince strip of dough over saucepan, cut with knife and drop into hot oil.
7. Fry churro bites until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon.
8. Drain churro bites on a paper towel.
9. Mix sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon in a medium bowl. Toss until coated.
Ours didn't have the regular churro look because we didn't hav the piping bag but they were so good....so it didn't matter! If you try this email me your pics at sherry@kyxy.com
Here are some pics from us making them.
