
The tiny town of Gander, Newfoundland, Canada saw 38 planes land at its tiny international airport on 9/11. Airspace in the United States was closed and planes had to land immediately. For planes coming over the Atlantic, one of their choices was Gander International. Dawn Baker of Gander tells the story of the week that the population of her town nearly doubled and how they came together to take care of thousands of diverted passengers.
