The Padres lost a tough game on Friday night 1-0 to the Rays in a game where neither team's offense could solve the opposing pitching. Rays starter Shane Baz allowed just 4 hits and a walk over 7 scoreless frames, while Michael King allowed just one unearned run while striking out 9 in 5 innings of work. Xander Bogaerts' throwing error in the 3rd inning led to the game's only run. The Padres had their best chance to score, in the bottom of the 3rd when they had runners on the corners and 2 outs, but Bogaerts struck out to end the threat. The Padres' offense will try to snap their 25-inning scoreless drought against Ryan Pepiot on Saturday.
