18-year-old singer Olivia Rodrigo's debut album SOUR is an emotional, angst-filled journey that takes the listener into her spiralling world of budding relationships gone south and the "brutal" day-to-day struggles of a teen in the new millennium.
Lyrically Olivia holds absolutely nothing back on the 11-track record, choosing to exorcize her demons with imagery and language that may leave fans wondering about specifics, but completely understanding the overarching themes.
On her recent visit to the Jimmy Kimmel Live! stage, Jimmy, a dad himself, was curious about what Olivia's mom thought of her young daughter's use of "foul" language in her songs -- but may not have gotten the answer he was hoping for.
“My mom’s actually really funny... my mom is, like, a third-grade teacher from the midwest,” Olivia explained to Jimmy.
“She’s very sweet," Olivia adds, "but her favorite music is, like, death metal and punk music. She’s the sweetest woman, and she’ll turn on, like, Motorhead. She has some edge to her. I remember being really young and she’d wake me up and she’d put a record on, and she’d put on a Motorhead record to, like, wake me up.”
With track names like "Born To Raise Hell," "You Better Run," and "Killed By Death" -- not to mention the blistering guitars and gravel-throated vocals of the late Lemmy Kilmister -- we can't help but wish to be a fly on the wall in the Rodrigo household when it's time to rise and shine to Motorhead.

Also during her visit to Kimmel on Tuesday (Oct. 26), Olivia discussed her trip to the White House over the summer where she met President Joe Biden and Dr. Anthony Fauci to discuss vaccinations for people in her age group, and even disclosed some of the -- let's just say memorable -- gifts she received while there. Olivia also performed her current SOUR single, "traitor."
