One woman has defied pandemic weight-gain trends and lost 118 pounds from a virtual heavy metal dance class during lockdown.
Su Morgan, 40, weighed 259 pounds before she began rocking out all night, Fox News reports.
Before the coronavirus lockdown, the English mother-of-four said she would drink two liters of soda each day, and relied on ordering takeout and eating quick snacks.
"I would pick easy dinners like pizza, chips and my portion sizes were always huge," Morgan told local news outlet South West News Service (SWNS). "I could easily drink two liters of Dr. Pepper a day, followed by a sharing bag of crisps as a snack."
After tipping the scale at nearly 260 pounds, Morgan began to look further into gastric bypass surgery, but was told by doctors that she needed to lose weight naturally before undergoing the operation.
Morgan immediately made changes to her diet, and fell in love with a virtual fitness class called “Rock Fit,” an exercise program set to heavy metal and rock music.
After committing to the workout class five days a week for a year, Morgan lost 118 pounds.
"I found the rock aerobics class during lockdown and I fell in love," Morgan told the news outlet. "It's the most fun I've ever had exercising and I would be dripping in sweat afterward. I do a lot for other people and I thought it was finally time I did something for myself."
Now weighing 141 pounds, Morgan is no longer pursuing gastric bypass surgery, but is hoping to have surgery to remove excess skin after shedding the weight.
"I love and hate my body now," she added. "I hate looking at my saggy tummy so much but I know it's because I've worked really hard."
She hopes her story will give others in a similar predicament some added motivation.
"I'm really proud of myself and hopefully I can inspire others to do the same."
