If you've ever been lying in bed counting backwards till your alarm is going to sound wishing you could fall asleep... this is for you!
Lately, my kids have been waking up in the middle of the night. And once I get them back to sleep...then I'm awake. Grrrr. So I was so glad I remembered this trick. It's actually something that's been used for quite a long time for people practicing meditation and my grandmother swears by doing this 3-4 times per day to lower her blood pressure. It's called the 4-7-8 method.
Here's how it works:
- Breath in through your nose for 4 seconds
- Hold it for 7 seconds
- Breath out slowly for 8 seconds
Repeat as many times as needed, but hopefully you'll be asleep in no time at all. Sweet dreams!
