Bindi Irwin says she doing A-OK.

The Australian TV personality and daughter of the late Steve Irwin said she recently underwent surgery for endometriosis.

“Dear Friends, I battled for a long time wondering if I should share this journey with you in such a public space,” Irwin wrote in a detailed Instagram caption. “It came down to the responsibility I feel to share my story for other women who need help.”

The 24-year-old has “struggled with insurmountable fatigue, pain & nausea” for the last decade.

Irwin said she made the decision to undergo surgery because she “couldn’t live like I was.”

“Every part of my life was getting torn apart because of the pain. To cut the long story short, they found 37 lesions, some very deep and difficult to remove, and a chocolate cyst.”

“Thank you to the doctors & nurses who believed my pain. I’m on the road to recovery & the gratitude I feel is overwhelming. To those questioning the cancelled plans, unanswered messages & absence - I had been pouring every ounce of the energy I had left into our daughter & family,” she wrote.

Irwin also commented on the millions of women struggling with similar outlooks and the stigma which surrounds the disease. She wanted to share her story for validation for all an to show those women they deserve to get help too.

According to the World Health Organization endometriosis is a “disease where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus, causing pain and/or infertility.”

“Keep searching for answers,” Irwin capped off her post.
