Over the past year, Bindi Irwin has delighted her social media followers with frequent updates about her baby girl, Grace Warrior. Her latest post has a little twist though.
The “Crikey! It’s the Irwins!” host's latest Instagram post shows off her new tattoo, which is a sweet homage both to her father and to her daughter, who was born March 25, 2021.
The tattoo along the inside of her left arm simply reads, “graceful warrior” next to a drawing of an alligator. Little Grace Warrior glances down at mom's new tattoo in the touching photo.
Bindi explained in the caption. "The words I spoke to our daughter as I held her for the first time in my arms were, 'My graceful warrior.' That’s how her name was born."
And the alligator? "Our dear alligator, Daisy, is next to these words to represent our conservation work as Wildlife Warriors. And my beautiful wedding ring in bloom."

Perhaps the sweetest detail about the emotional ink is that the script is done in the handwriting style of her beloved father, adventurer and conservationist, Steve Irwin, who died in 2006.
"This is my dad’s handwriting to keep him with me, always," Bindi said.
As Good Morning America noted, Irwin's husband Chandler Powell commented under the post, "Such gorgeous artwork. You amaze me every day. Each one is meaningful to mark this special time in our life together. Also, the Florida in me loves the alligator. Love you so much."
Baby Grace’s moniker goes back further than those loving words Irwin uttered upon delivery. As she explained in the birth announcement: "Grace is named after my great-grandmother and relatives in Chandler’s family dating back to the 1700s. Her middle names, Warrior Irwin, are a tribute to my dad and his legacy as the most incredible Wildlife Warrior. Her last name is Powell and she already has such a kind soul just like her dad."

Irwin then explained in the caption that, since the breastfeeding part of Grace’s journey had just ended, this seemed like a perfect time to commit to the tattoo.
“Validation every day of the three most important things in my life: family, purpose and unconditional love.”
