the greg hill show: Greg wonders what the significance is of the timing of Curran's Bill report
Need some more salt to add to the wound that is New England’s disappointing 3-10 season? Look no further than Thursday night’s contest between the Chargers and the Raiders.
Is Las Vegas’ route of, albeit a Justin Herbert-less Los Angeles team, three former Patriots scored on the way to a 63-21 win.
Wide receiver Jakobi Meyers, who signed a three-year, $33 million contract with the Raiders this past March, was the first former Pat to score as he hauled in a diving 32-yard touchdown from quarterback Aiden O’Connell. Take a look:
Then, in the second quarter, former New England running back Brandon Bolden, who's been with Vegas since 2022, got in on the fun himself with a 26-yard score out of a wildcat formation. His touchdown make it 35-0 Raiders... in the first half.
But Vegas wasn’t done. Not even close. In their opening drive of the second half, they pulled out all the stops and had Jakobi Meyers throw for a touchdown on a trick play. His first passing touchdown as a Raider.
A former college quarterback at NC State, Meyers tallied two passing touchdowns, both in the 2020 season, during his time with the Patriots.
Some icing on the cake? Former Patriots cornerback Jack Jones, who was waived by the team in mid-November and subsequently claimed by the Raiders, scored Vegas’ final touchdown on Thursday night with an incredible, instinctual, pick-six off Chargers quarterback Easton Stick.
Here’s how the former New Englanders finished the contest:
J. Meyers - 2 receptions, 32 yards, 1 TD. 2-2 passing, 12 yards, 1 TD
B. Bolden - 2 carries, 25 yards, 1 TD
J. Jones - 5 tackles, 1 pass deflection, 1 INT, 1 TD
Why can't we get guys like that?
