The Dennis Schroder era is already entertaining.
The tenacious guard is crowdsourcing his Celtics jersey number, because his favorite number, 17, is retired. The Celtics have 23 retired numbers in total.

Schroder announced the initiative on his app, DS17. It doesn’t have any ratings yet in the app store.
The program advertises itself as “your place to interact directly with DS17 and other NBA fans."
Out of Schroder’s selections, No. 71 would probably be the best choice, because it is 17 backwards.
Very clever; very now.
The Celtics inked Schröder to a severely discounted one-year, $5.9 million deal, in what was largely hailed as the steal of free agency. Earlier in the year, Schroder turned down an extension from the Lakers worth more than $80 million.
So, yeah, you could say he’s coming to Boston with something to prove.
An elite defender, Schroder averaged 15.4 points and 5.8 assists per game with the Lakers last season. His breakout campaign came with the Hawks in 2017-18, when he averaged 19.4 points and 6.2 assists per contest.
