Draymond Green has some thoughts about Celtics fans. Unsurprisingly, they are not the most flattering.
Can the Celtics bounce back against the Warriors?
On the latest episode of his podcast, the aptly titled “Draymond Green Show,” the struggling veteran was asked about his thoughts on the crowds at TD Garden for Games 3 and 4.
“They’re loud,” Green said. “"They're pretty loud. They're very loud. A little obnoxious. But Cleveland fans used to be obnoxious too. Now, I think these people, they take the cake. But yeah, it's loud.”
Celtics fans showered Green with obscenities, earning the ire of his wife, who questioned on Instagram whether they’re human beings. “Tough loss tonight, but in no way, shape or form should fans be allowed to chant obscenities at players!,” posted Hazel Renee. “Are they not human?”
Steve Kerr and Klay Thompson also took issue with Green’s treatment. Thompson bemoaned that fans were swearing with children in attendance.
Celtics fans chanted “f— you Draymond!,” among other insults.
Green, to his credit, said the vitriol is expected.
“I mean, you're trying to win a championship. It should be loud. The fans should be into it,” he said. “And so I respect it and after the series I'll appreciate it. But for now, you know what it is with them.”
Green was an agitator during the opening of the series in Golden State before turning into a lemon in Boston. He fouled out after boasting about preferential treatment he receives from NBA officials and scored just four points in two games.
He’s destined to receive a warmer welcome at Chase Arena during Game 5. We’ll see if it improves his play.
At the least, his podcast game remains strong.
