After being named an All-Star starter for the first time in his career in January, Jaylen Brown added another major accolade to his dominant 2025-26 campaign.
On Sunday, the NBA unveiled its All-NBA teams, selected by a global media panel of 100 voters. Brown earned Second Team All-NBA honors for the second time in his career and for the first time since the 2022-23 season.
Brown was joined on the Second Team by Jalen Brunson, Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, and Donovan Mitchell. The First Team featured Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Nikola Jokic, Victor Wembanyama, Luka Doncic, and Cade Cunningham, while Tyrese Maxey, Jamal Murray, Jalen Johnson, Jalen Duren, and Chet Holmgren earned Third-Team honors. Brown received 44 First Team votes and was the highest vote-getter among all second-team selections.
Doncic and Cunningham were not originally eligible for postseason awards because they did not meet the required 65-game threshold. However, after filing grievances, the NBA and NBPA agreed that each player qualified for awards under the extraordinary circumstances provision in the CBA. Doncic played in 64 games, in part because he missed two to attend the birth of his daughter in Slovenia, while Cunningham played in 63 games after missing 12 due to a collapsed lung diagnosis on March 17.
Brown, who played in 71 games (his most since the 2018-19 season), turned in the best statistical campaign of his career, setting career highs in minutes (2,443), points (28.7), rebounds (6.9), assists (5.1), offensive rating (119.5), free-throw makes (6.0), and free-throw percentage (79.5%). His three triple-doubles matched his previous career total, while his 14 double-doubles were also a career best.
He was one of only two players to average at least 28 points, six rebounds, and five assists, alongside Doncic. Just two Celtics had previously reached that stat line in franchise history: Larry Bird (three times) and John Havlicek (1970-71).
Brown led the NBA in field goals made (736), becoming the first Celtic in franchise history to do so, while his 2,038 points ranked third in the league. He also became just the fifth Celtic to average at least 28 points per game, joining Bird, Havlicek, Jayson Tatum, and Isaiah Thomas. The 10-year veteran, who finished sixth in MVP voting, recorded 64 games with 20 or more points (second-most in the NBA), 35 with 30 or more (third-most), seven with 40 or more (fourth-most), and one 50-point performance. In 71 games, Brown led the Celtics in scoring 53 times, assists 29 times, rebounds 23 times, blocks 12 times, and steals 12 times, helping guide Boston to an improbable 56 wins and the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference.
Brown is only the 14th Celtic in franchise history with multiple All-NBA selections. He joins Bob Cousy (12), Havlicek (11), Bill Russell (11), Bird (10), Bill Sharman (7), Tatum (5), Paul Pierce (4), Tom Heinsohn (4), Ed Macauley (4), Dave Cowens (3), Sam Jones (3), Robert Parish (2), and Jo Jo White (2).
