The Red Sox can't be stopped. At least that's how it feels after 12 games.
Alex Cora's crew has now won nine straight games after sweeping the Twins in Wednesday's doubleheader, following up a 3-2 Game 1 win with a dominant 7-1 victory in Game 2.
After a seven-inning grinder earlier in the day -- (click here to read all about the Nathan Eovaldi-led victory) -- the Red Sox used an explosive offense to run away from Minnesota.
The clear star of the Red Sox' second win of the day was Alex Verdugo, who followed up his game-saving catch in Game 1 with a three-hit output that included the go-ahead RBIs and a game-sealing home run.
Verdugo's two-run single in the fifth broke open a 1-1 deadlock, paving the way to the Red Sox' six-run frame. He would add his second homer of the season in the seventh.
Picking up the win was starter Eduardo Rodriguez, who didn't have his best stuff but still weaved his way in and out of trouble for five innings. Rookies Garrett Whitlock and Eduard Bazardo closed things out with a pair of scoreless innings.
