Steph Curry received an extended look at the Celtics during the NBA Finals, and determined they would’ve been worse off with Kevin Durant.
In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Curry said he thinks the Celtics would’ve been forced to surrender too much talent for Durant, notably Jaylen Brown.

“They have a little bit of everything,” Curry said of the Celtics. “But they would have to deal with the organizational transition to get rid of Jaylen [Brown]. He’s such a pivotal piece.”
Curry’s comments came in a conversation with Snoop Dogg, who was present during the interview for an unexplained reason.
The Celtics reportedly offered the Nets a package centered around Brown, but the two teams couldn’t reach an agreement. The Nets were seemingly holding out for a blockbuster return, which makes sense, considering Durant is signed for four more years.
Curry added that he thinks all of Durant’s rumored suitors would’ve had to give up too many pieces on their current rosters to make the trade worthwhile. “Man, he thinks that they’re gonna go to teams — like if he went to Phoenix — that they’re gonna be the same team if he’s there,” said Curry.
After a summer of turmoil, the Nets announced last month Durant intends to stay with the team.
Interestingly enough, Curry also told Rolling Stone the Warriors internally discussed making a play for their former star. When asked whether he was open to Durant returning to Golden State, Curry said “hell yeah.”
Apparently, he doesn’t think the cost would’ve been prohibitive for his team.
