It didn’t take long for the 'Petty King' Steph Curry to respond to Grant Williams.
The Boston Celtics forward recently appeared on “The Long Shot” podcast with Miami Heat guard Duncan Robinson and raised some eyebrows when he said, “I still will say confidently to this day, they weren't the better team. They were the more disciplined team."
The clip was tweeted out shortly before noon PT. About three hours later, Curry posted on his Instagram Story with a subtle jab on the caption, saying he was getting “a very disciplined cut” at the barber shop.
While the Finals were going on (and his wife was getting mocked for her cooking skills), Curry said he notices all extracurricular chatter on social media.
“I’m the petty king,” Curry said. “So I know all about everything and I use it as entertainment and have fun with it.”
Williams' comment clearly caught his attention. The Warriors are still just about five weeks removed from winning the title in Boston, so it’s clearly still fresh on people’s minds. It's also the slowest sports week of the year.
At least Curry is doing a good job of drumming up some interest before hosting the ESPYs on Wednesday night. Hopefully it’s not too late for the writers to sneak in a “disciplined” joke in the opening monologue, as the event will air on ABC at 5 PT.
