Apparently Sunday night was fight night at TD Garden.

After a relatively sleepy 3-1 win for the Bruins in Buffalo on Saturday night, there was plenty of energy to go around during the first period of Sunday's game against the Vancouver Canucks, including a pair of fights.

Midway through the first, Tomas Nosek dropped the gloves with Kyle Burroughs after Burroughs landed a hard (but clean) hit on David Pastrnak. That fight, which was the first of Nosek's career, was a fairly typical modern NHL fight -- a quick punch or two and an almost immediate takedown.

The second fight of the period was much more of a heavyweight battle. After A.J. Greer landed a hard hit on Vancouver's Vasily Podkolzin in the neutral zone, the two briefly stared each other down and then agreed to drop the gloves.

This one featured some wild swings, with Greer in particular connecting clean on a couple. Podkolzin came up bleeding and had to go straight to the locker room. It was the sixth fight of Greer's NHL career and second this season, while it was the first of Podkolzin's career.

Greer had challenged Luke Schenn to a fight on his previous shift, but Schenn declined. Sunday marked the first game Greer had played in eight days, so it seems he had some pent-up energy.
